The Leaders in Training program is designed for high school students who want to develop their leadership skills while serving at Camp Otyokwah. It's more than a job training program - it's an investment in the next generation of Christian leaders.

What is LIT?

LIT is a summer-long leadership development program for high school students (typically rising juniors and seniors). Participants spend several weeks at camp learning, serving, and growing alongside our summer staff.

Program Elements

Leadership Training

  • Weekly training sessions on leadership principles
  • Practical skills development
  • Biblical foundations for servant leadership

Service Experience

  • Shadow experienced counselors
  • Assist with camp programming
  • Support various camp operations
  • Hands-on learning opportunities

Discipleship

  • Daily Bible studies with LIT group
  • One-on-one mentoring with staff
  • Personal growth planning
  • Spiritual formation focus

Community

  • Live and work alongside summer staff
  • Build lasting relationships
  • Experience intentional community

Schedule

LIT participants typically serve for 4-6 weeks during the summer. The schedule includes:

  • Staff training week
  • Service during camp sessions
  • Weekly LIT-specific programming
  • Days off for rest and recreation

Requirements

  • Currently in high school (rising junior or senior preferred)
  • Committed Christian faith
  • Heart for serving children and youth
  • Willingness to learn and grow
  • Ability to commit to program length
